The Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin TD in partnership with Fáilte Ireland has recently announced a €17m scheme to provide funding for individual tourism and hospitality businesses to develop permanent outdoor public dining spaces. The new initiative is also teaming up with local authorities across the country to develop medium to large-scale permanent public dining spaces with weatherproofing for year-round dining.
With news of this scheme just being announced, we’re here to help you understand how it can help you and your business simply.

How much is the grant for?
Grants will average about €4,000 for each premise.
Who is eligible for the grant?
Businesses who serve food, this includes hotels, cafes, restaurants, and attractions.
What can businesses use the grant for?
To help offset the costs of upgrading their premises for outdoor dining and seating, including weatherproofing.
How are the local authorities involved?

This will also help ease the red tape when businesses are applying for use of footpath and road space for diners and allow restaurants to operate as takeaways for the current year without having to apply for change of use planning permission.
